InfoTech 9 October 15-18th

Last week, we reviewed:
  • purpose and structure of an eportfolio
  • purpose, list and definitions of learning competencies
  • identified attributes of an Independent Learner
Here is what students identified as Independent Learning:
  • is able to stay focussed and work independently
  • knows how to troubleshoot problems, and tries independently first
  • knows how to find resources (class website, youtube, blog, google search, peers)
  • works with others, learns from others, helps others when appropriate
  • if things go wrong, keeps trying in different ways
  • self-paces and plans for learning

We also worked on our Digital Stories, with the goal of completing them this week!
  • about 12 slides
  • heavy on simple visuals, low on text (title only)
  • to be narrated (narration notes go under powerpoint slides)
  • export powerpoint as .jpeg (series of pictures)
  • use Windows Movie Maker or iMovie on iPads to create.
Digital stories are biographies told in images and words, digitally.

Here is the link to the assignment, which will become part of your eportfolios.

PS/ Students were to add to their Learning Blog:
  • purpose and structure of an eportfolio
  • purpose, list and definitions of learning competencies

  • This week:
    • You are ready to export/narrate your Digital Story
    • You have your eportfolio set up, with competency pages, a passion/career page, and with at least two entries (with photo/uploaded document and a reflection statement)
    • You will begin thinking about your independent learning project.

    Have a great week!
