DigLiteracy Dec 3 - 7th

On Tuesday, we'll be working with our storyboards, potentially acting out what we'd like to film in our "Teach Me" tutorials. Only when you've completed your storyboard to a Satisfactory or High level of achievement, will you be able to film it.

W'll also complete our Digital Story reflections, and post them to our eportfolios (Communications page).

Here's the sequence and activities for the class:
1. Digital Storytelling (20 minutes)
      a. Reflections: Open MS Word, and complete your reflection. Share with a partner, or with class.
          Grade 8's: post to your ePortfolio on your Communications page. Grade 7's, post to your Lunar
          Eportfolio if you can--if not, I'll help you next class.
      b. Digital Story: Post your Digital Story to your eportfolio either as a Youtube link/embed, or as a
          file upload. Or, you can select some .jpg (image) slides and insert them onto your Bio page.
     
2. "Teach Me" Tutorial (60 minutes)
      a. Take out your current storyboards and scripts. Make sure each person in your team has a copy.
          If you still don't know what to do, you should pick your topic NOW!
      b. Handout: Storyboard Assignment. Go over with class. Have students do a brief assessment
          of their storyboard.
      c. Watch the following video to get a sense of what storyboarding is about:

Discuss: shots and angles

 

     d. Students rework storyboards for 15 minutes at their desks (rm 201 may be available), then

          evaluate against criteria (peer).

      e. Once storyboards are complete to a satisfactory level, then students may film their piece. If

          filming in the gym they MUST get permission from the teacher (send with a note). Other

          students may use the LIBRARY with a note, and a time limit (20 mins). Do not let students

          loose--they will have time for an in-class break for five minutes. Students without a project

          must help peers storyboard and film.

     f. Students may begin to edit their footage using Windows Movie Maker or iMovie (iPads) if

        available. They should stick to their storyboards closely.

     g. Students submit storyboards with a REFLECTION on the back of the sheet on how they did,

          what they accomplished, what they've learned.
